Happy Birthday from Lotella and Phil

Louise,

You are very special to me and to Phil.

I can remember how you took good care of your “little sister” (me) when we were growing up on the farm, walking the 1¼ miles (one way) to Old No. 10 School, patiently teaching your teenage sister to drive (before the days of driver education courses), etc.

Both Phil and I really appreciate all the help you and Quentin gave us during our twenty -five years with the International Mission Board, including assisting us with automobiles to drive during our furloughs and taking care of stateside finances for us along with many other things too numerous to mention. Your regular letters meant so much to us, keeping us informed about other members of the family when they were not able to write. Thanks, also, for the daily 8 a.m. calls to Phil’s dad after Phil’s mom passed away. He eagerly awaited your call each morning.

Thanks again for the Tender Loving Care you gave me after my lung surgery while Phil was taking care of his dad.

We really appreciate you and all you’ve done for us.

I’m glad we live close enough to each other now to talk twice a day instead of rarely getting to talk by phone while we were in Liberia and had to go into Monrovia to the Telecommunications Building and pay $5 a minute for telephone calls.

We love you and wish you a Happy 80th Birthday!

Lotella and Phil
