Anniston, Alabama - August 2006

Parks and Trails

In the evenings I visited various parks, where I could get some exercise and make a few pictures.
By the time it was cool enough to walk outside, it was starting to get dark, as you can see.

Chief Ladiga Trail

I walked a little on one end of the this trail, which runs for 33 miles along a former rail corridor.

Lagarde Park and Kiwanis Exercise Trail

Kiwanis Exercise Trail is in John B. Lagarde Park.
There were museums in another part of the park, but they weren't open late.
I kept wondering what "Laga de Park" meant until I realized I had been in Lagarde Park.

A muddy lagoon and
some really tall trees

Centennial Memorial Park

This small downtown park has long low walls
listing Alabama servicemen who died in wars.

The pool is shaped like Alabama.
Here is a section of one wall.

Oxford Lake Park

This was a nice neighborhood park near my hotel.
A 2/3 mile trail goes around the lake.

The small bridge connects
nearby townhouses
with the park.

The covered bridge just
takes an alternate path
over a small stream
inside the park.
